Deconstructing the Coliseum: Teaching the Christian worldview, including how the civil government has no right to operate a school system.

John Stossel is an author, well-known for being funny while also being blunt and honest. He wrote a TIMELESS article for Townhall.com, dated October 2, 2013, entitled Escaping ‘Government’ Schools.People say public schools are ‘one of the best parts of America’. I believed that. Then I started reporting on them. Now I know that public school — government school is a better name — is one of the worst parts of America. It’s a stultified government monopoly. It never improves. I call them “government” instead of “public” schools because not much is “public” about them. Members of the public don’t get to pick their kids’ schools, teachers, curriculum or cost.”

If you listen to our broadcast over and over, you’ll notice that I don’t call the civil government the government. This is because God is the government, the lawgiver, the rule of law, and the ultimate authority. To say that the civil government is the government is to exalt man as the ultimate authority, because the civil government is comprised of humans.

Also, I long ago stopped calling civil government schools “public”. Like Mr. Stossel said, there is nothing public about them; nor is there anything that is free about them:

    1. You don’t get to pick your teacher.
    2. You don’t get to pick the books.
    3. You are required by law to attend.
    4. And you are forced to pay for them, even if you don’t use them.
